Lino cut block printing

If you want to learn the lino cut block printing technique and even go a step further and do wonderful and unique cushion covers, bags and so on, we invite you to join us for this art workshop and make it your latest hobby. Linocut is a printmaking technique similar to woodcut in which a design has been cut in relief surface. A design is first drawn onto the surface and then cut with a variety of sharp knives using a subtractive cutting method to take away the parts of linoleum where you want to leave the white of the page, and keep the parts you want to be inked! To prepare it for printing the linoleum sheet is inked with a roller called a brayer and then impressed onto paper or fabric using a printing press or by hand. The material offers great variety of applications as the linocut that can reproduce the same image over and over again in the same or different colors.

Like all of our creative workshops at our art school, this one is also a very hands-on experience. In this workshop you will get a great start on a lino cut techniques with Iskra teaching you all the necessary skills and you will go home with your finished artwork printed on fabric which you can later on turn it into a cushion project.
