Marbling

If you want to learn the marbling technique which is one of those crafts that seems really intimidating, we invite you to join us for this art workshop and with our instructions you will find it quite simple. Marbling is the process of floating paints on the surface of a thick cellulose solution (called "size"), somewhat like oil on water. The floating paints are swirled into patterns and then the design is captured by laying a treated piece of absorbent surface such as fabric or paper down on top of the paint and then carefully transferred to it. The patterns are similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stone. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces for calligraphy and book covers. There are so many fabulous applications for this technique from paper to fabric for variety of objects that is really worth to give it a try.

Like all of our creative workshops in our art school, this one is also a very hands-on experience. In this workshop you will get a great start on a marbling techniques with Iskra teaching you all the necessary skills and you will go home with your finished artwork printed on fabric which you can later on turn it into a wall hanging, a cushion project or even accessory.
